Action Mesothelioma Day 2026

Patients, carers and campaigners met in Manchester to remember those lost to asbestos and to campaign for those living with it.

Hazards attended this year's Action Mesothelioma Day event at Manchester's Friends Meeting on 3rd July 2026. The event was well attended with under 100 people taking part and dozens of donations to help with the campaigning work.

Hazards coordinators helped with signing guest in and took part in the talks and workshops that ran throughout the day. The sessions reflected the vital work that continues on both fronts of the asbestos fight, remembering those we have lost to asbestos-related disease, and campaigning tirelessly for those still living with its consequences.

Action Mesothelioma Day also offered valuable networking opportunities, enabling patients, carers and professionals to connect, exchange information and learn about the support services available locally and nationally. Information stands provided advice on welfare benefits, legal rights, clinical trials and patient support groups.

The Manchester event reinforced the message that, despite progress in treatment and care, mesothelioma remains a significant public health issue. Participants left with a renewed commitment to raising awareness, supporting those affected and campaigning for continued investment in research aimed at improving outcomes and ultimately finding a cure.

The event was a moving reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community affected by asbestos. Hazards were proud to stand alongside the speakers, campaigners and families present in a shared commitment to remembering the dead and fighting for the living.
